Search the 1901 or 1911 Census

A great way to find out about the lives of of the people who lived on your street or even in your home is to search the 1901 and 1911 census. If your street was built after you could look at old maps to see what was there before look that up instead

You can learn a surprising amount about people including what religion they were, if they could read or write, how old they were, what they did for a living, if they were married or single and if they could speak Irish, English or both!

If you don’t know where to start you could type in the name of a street and select Dublin as the county. You don’t need to put in a name or surname unless you are looking for someone in particular.
